Extended families, businesses, and groups are joining the effort to create educational opportunities in Mali by committing to raise money to build a school. Others donate through the Foundation’s annual fundraising events or regularly send a check or make a donation online. Mali is moving forward in ways that are filling its people with hope and optimism. We invite you to join with your friends and family and neighbors in being part of the future of Mali’s wonderful children.
- Middle and High School Students: Organize an assembly or a club at your school with the goal to raise money to build a sister school in Mali. Our Executive Director, Yeah Samake, would be thrilled to come and speak to your school about his story of growing up in Mali and how his education has changed his life and of his family. His story is truly inspirational.
- School Project: Need experience organizing an event for your management class or to build your resume. Partner with us and organize a fundraiser to benefit the Mali Rising Foundation. We have had students organize benefit concerts with local bands and with established recording artists.
- Facebook: Join our cause on Facebook here. After you join the cause, invite your friends to join. You can make donations directly from our Facebook page. Challenge your friends to join and donate $10 or to set a goal to raise $1,000. Make it fun and let your network know of the things you care about.
- Skip-a-lunch: Organize a group at your workplace to skip a lunch once a month and have each person donate what you would have spent on that lunch to the Mali Rising Foundation. Did you know that for only $9 a student in Mali can be completely outfitted with all necessary school supplies for a year. One lunch for a year's worth of school supplies seems like a good investment in the world.
- Buy-a-brick: Our Buy-A-Brick program provides a brick with your name chiseled on it for $30 per brick. What about getting your family together and have each family member save and provide a brick to a school. Students at the school will see the names of those who have helped provide their classrooms.
- In Honor Of: Often families ask that a meaningful donation be made in lieu of sending flowers when a loved one passes away. At these times, consider the Mali Rising Foundation where for a $30 donation we will engrave the name of the person you wish to honor on a brick that will be used to help build a school. This is a wonderfully respectful way to honor the memory of a loved one.
- Holiday Neighborhood Helping: Start a neighborhood tradition of donating to Mali Rising instead of sending around fruit cakes. We can provide you with information about Mali Rising to share with your neighbors and you can invite them to your home for an informal gathering. See how the holiday spirit increases when you have helped the world in a very tangible way.
- Hold a drum circle: Don't know how to drum? Don't have drums? No problem. Steven Waters, a member of our board of directors, has 10 drums and other percussion instruments that he could bring to your home or group. He can facilitate the drum circle that will bring together friends, family, neighbors, as well as complete strangers. Encourage a donation from each participant and see how much you can raise for schooling in Mali.
- Organize your Organization: Already in an organization like a book club, running club, dance club, school club, etc? Challenge your group to a monthly goal or a one-time donation.
- Dinner Auction: The Mali Rising Foundation holds a dinner auction each year in the Fall. There are items for silent bids and items for the live auction. Sponsor a table for $1,000 (comes with seating for eight) or come individually for $150 a plate.
- Build a School: Okay, this one is really ambitious. It costs $50,000 to build a three-classroom school in Mali. Set a goal to raise the money to build a school and the honor of naming the school will be yours.
- Come on an Expedition: Come to Mali with us and see the excitement in a village when a school is opened. Be part of the dancing. Be part of the drum circle. See a remote part of the world. Contact us for information on our next expedition.
- Be Creative: There are many ways to fund raise. Think of one what suits your personality and help us build schools in Mali.
- One Time Donation: Simply make a one-time donation by clicking on the "Make a Donation" button in the upper right hand corner of this page. Any amount is helpful. And remember, because the Mali Rising Foundation is 501(c)3 non-profit organization, your donation is tax deductible.
- Recurring Donation: Make a recurring donation by committing a fixed amount each month. Again, this does not have to be a large amount. Even $5 or $10 add up to a significant contribution.
-
